Revolution in Egypt

Early morning in Wednesday, January 26th, finally there is riot in egypt following the similar events in Tunisia, January 15th. The egyptian people want a democratic country. I think it’s logic, remembering that President Husni Mubarok has been in chair for the last 30 years.

The question is how should a government in Islam? As far as I know, in Islam, there is khalifah, a leader who are elected by people. But there is no frequent general election. The khalifah will stay on chair until he die or resign. The change from one khalifah to the next khalifah is not based on father-son relation.

Simply, I think that what we also can find in Egypt. Maybe the differences are in how the government rule the country. If the government rule the country transparently, without corruption, then the country will be prosperous then we will not see this riot. This riot tells us that the society don’t want that president anymore, maybe because something bad that they did, maybe because the impoverishment policies implemented.

When we take a look into The King in Saudi Arabia, we can see that, maybe that country just peacefull because of the society there are prosperous. If not, the we just neeed to wait until the same riot happen also in that country.

As the coclusion, we can see that, what ever the form of government, as long as the governance are transparent, no corruption, the government try hard to make their citizen prosperous, then it’s OK. No need for democracy, kingdom is Ok.

However, as the popular idiom said, power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupt absolutely. Maybe it is impossible for human being, when they are given a power they will keep doing it in correct way.

Here, we can see that we need a system. A good internal control system. Check and balance, so that there is no absolute power.

The next question will be: will this revolution will be sustain and resilient?

Reflection upon Buku ‘Selamatkan Indonesia’

– Sangat sedih saat kita tahu cost recovery system, perjanjian kontrak kerja dan hal terkait penambangan lainnya sangat merugikan bangsa.
– Kalau kita bisa membuat sendiri, mengapa harus membeli dari orang?
– Hate freeport, hate exxon
Melakukan sesuatu. Memberi nilai tambah yang berkualitas.

My Pledge

I’ll be one of them. Will you?

While the rest, depend on how we can be great in science and technology field. I think that is why China, India, Iran, Brazil, really serious in developing and supporting science and technology development. I believe we also can do it. Buat Islam dan Indonesia bangga.

Social Movement

Today, I attended a public lecture, entitled Rethinking Social Movement, Lesson Learned from South Africa Experince by Prof Ari Sitas PhD, from Capetown University, South Africa.

He defines social movement as a continuing or sustainable movement initiated by the society to change something. It can be oppose the government or just give a recommendation. A succesful social movement is a social movement with a strong ideological basis which can change structurally.

A strong ideological basis is very important as it is one factor which can help this movement will sustain. Here, an ‘absolute’ true ideological is important. Besides that, a charismatic leader also an indispensable part. This strong ideological movement will be likely can change the structure.

Regarding Indonesia’s condition. It always make me sad. This big and potential country just become a personal interest fulfillment of several persons. They with everything they have always try to manage country’s rich. Either through self illegal action or bribe public official.

I miss a wealthy Indonesia. a developed country as we can see in another part of the world. I believe, I’ll be the witness as well as actor of history of change in Indonesia. I’ll be a smart, wise, and strong public official which can keep his integrity in advancing Indonesia. I’ll try. I’ll try.

Important Lessons

I read a lot of books in couple previous days. Thanks to Gramedia Depok Book store. I read books like Negeri 5 Menara, Habibie dan Ainun, Grow with character, the power, Indonesia’s grand strategies, making a giant leap, leaders at all levels, atlas umrah dan haji, a lot of magazines, etc. Here are several lesson that I got.

First, someone who has talent to be a leader is someone that always try to look from a higher level. For example, a leader talented financial manager in a bank branch will always see challenge and make decision from the point of view of general manager. A student in a university who really want to foster research in that university will place him self in place where he as if has to make a policies what to be done to realize that research university. With this kind of paradigm, people will be wiser, smarter, and finally the outcome will be amazing.

Second, the culture of dicipline is very important. We have to think and dream big, but we have to move fast and dicipline in realizing it. Many people fail in realizing theri dream because of their procrastination action.

Third, our achievement will be as much as our dream. That’s why we have to brave to dream and keep our dream alive. In achieving that dream, we also have to persistent and never give up.

Fourth, We can if we think that we can. The first step will always be hard. Even maybe so hard which make we give up even before try anything. Let;s always try to move forward. Face the challenge. If it is too big or too complicated, solve it one by one until everything is clear but still in fast pace.

Fifth, Always be happy with everything that your friends got. Just feel as if you are the person who receive what they got.

Sixth, always remember that Allah is everything. He rules out the universe. Everything is depend on him. Then always pray to Him.

Have a great achievements and Developments this year!

Rully
